Rachel Carson (1907–1964) is our Scientist of the Month for March. Do we have a silent spring today? And do we owe all the sounds of insects and birds at the awakening of spring to Rachel Carson?! In her work, a love of nature was transformed into literature, grounded in science. Her popular science writings helped spark the environmental movement. The focus will also be on the “magic of wonder” as an unconventional teaching method. “Nature journaling” and “nature writing” offer us a timeless way to observe, document, and engage in creative expression.
The event is partner of Science Comes to Town.
